King’s Park War Memorial
Project Outline
The State War Memorial Precinct is located on Mount Eliza overlooking Perth’s Swan River. The precinct comprises of the Cenotaph, Court of Contemplation, Flame of Remembrance and Pool of Reflection; with memorials to various battles, military units, prisoners of war and other groups found throughout the parklands.
Working alongside Nilsen WA to deliver a lighting solution, sensitive to the environment and respectful to the iconic State War Memorial. The solution to appropriately illuminate the Cenotaph; an 18m granite obelisk, required a discreet execution that provides an effective outcome. Mondoluce presented the iGuzzini Agora as the ideal luminaire for the following features:
- Wall-mount installation – Keeping the luminaire off the ground.
- Graduated scale and mechanical aiming lock
- IP66 / IK08 (IK10 with protective grille) Opti Beam Lens and Opti Beam Reflector optics
- Insulation class II
The Cenotaph honours all Western Australians who gave their lives in the service of their country. The design is almost a replica of the Australian Imperial Force Memorials erected in France and Belgium.
Easily identifiable among Perth’s skyline, the Cenotaph is one of Kings Park’s most iconic features with over 40,000 visitors attending the State War Memorial for the annual ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
Mondoluce is honoured to be involved in the lighting of this significant monument.
