Women in architecture
March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day for people to stand together and fight for women’s rights. The theme for IWD 2023 is Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future.
On this day, we celebrated the incredible achievements of women in architecture, design, and construction. From shaping our built environment to inspiring future generations, women have made a lasting impact on the industry. We stand in solidarity with all women around the world, and pledge to continue championing gender equality and diversity in our profession.
In the Institute’s 90+ year history, there have been only 7 female National Presidents, and we thought we would take this opportunity to showcase the dedicated architects who make up this very special alumni. Over the coming days, we will allow these incredible women to tell you, in their own words, what being National President meant to them.
Let’s continue to support and uplift each other, and work towards a more equitable future for all. Thank you, Australian Institute of Architecture Western Australia, for organising this amazing event!
