State Cellars by State Buildings

Project Outline

Introducing State Cellars, where optimal cellaring conditions, expert knowledge, and a like-minded community converge.

Just 33 exclusive cellars are available in our architecturally designed, state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Nedlands.

Members will have 24/7 access to their cellar, and the opportunity to expand and enrich collections under the expert guidance of award-winning Emma Farrelly, and State Cellars Sommelier, Justin Biskup.

Mondoluce was engaged by lighting design practice, KLD, to provide a minimal and elegant solution to fit the design by Finespun Architecture.

The client expressed the lighting brief to be a sensory experience of being guided by light along a specific path to your personal cellar.

Amber LED strip was selected to keep UV exposure low to protect and preserve the wine collections while also providing an important way of finding and vertical illumination to the inside wall of each cellar.

Motion sensors were integrated into each cellar and aisle to trigger only when movement is detected within a 90-degree view. This ensured lights weren’t providing unnecessary light exposure to the wine and maintained the exclusivity of a specific path for each user to their personal collection.
