Forrest Chase Redevelopment

Project Outline

The recent upgrade to Forrest Chase reinstates the space as a modern retail precinct in the heart of Perth. The new façade and walkway pay homage to the landmark Boans store dating back to 1895, and the Padbury Buildings constructed in 1924.

The lighting upgrade to Forrest Chase was an integral part of the design that was carefully considered to compliment without competing with the new façade. The brief called for elements of aesthetic, as well as functional lighting to comply with safe movement of the pedestrian traffic.

The new glass façade comprises of 380 colour changing LED cubes, iGuzzini Glim Cube, that are DMX controlled and programmed to change scenes and colours based on events taking place within Forrest Place or the wider City.

The undercover walkways are lit using continuous LED strip, Unios Eclipse, customised to fit the high canopies and providing compliant lux levels on the ground while integrating seamlessly into the architecture.

The end of trip facilities feature a combination of Unios Cast concealed within the pelmet to provide high levels of glare-free indirect illumination without the need for additional direct downlighting to boost lux levels, and iGuzzini Trick 360° providing eye catching accent lighting to the corridor walls.
