Project Detail

Nolita Trattoria

The design philosophy for Nolita Trattoria was to create a sophisticated, contemporary eatery that could transition comfortably from day to night. The restaurant recalls Nolita in New York (North of Little Italy) which entailed evoking a modern contemporary vibe as well as referencing the traditional Italian Trattoria. The materials, finishes and fittings needed to blend seamlessly and so to compliment the solid timber joinery and furniture pieces, Tom Dixon light fittings, represented by Mondoluce Lighting, were selected for the project.

The atmospheric Tom Dixon acid etched brass pendants create an elaborate scatter of light and shade over the bar area and provide a central feature between the front and rear dining rooms. The Tom Dixon Base Wall Lights positioned against the stained solid timber wall feature provide a gentle ambient glow over the banquet seating dining space. Both of these fittings integrate with the aesthetic and design palette of the restaurant as well as produce a specific quality of light for the restaurant.

Through the details, finishes, materials, fittings and lighting used, the ethos of Nolita is attained and reiterated – a refined yet modest product made with thought and consideration.
