Museum Street

Project Outline

Prioritising pedestrians and place activation was the key motivation. The City of Perth decided Museum Street between Aberdeen Street and Francis Street was to receive a complete makeover.

The makeover creates space for a dedicated pedestrian area. The new precinct features a pedestrian friendly connection to Perth’s Cultural Centre. As well as more trees, street furniture, artwork, lighting, CCTV and free public Wi-Fi upgrades.

The importance was to create a safe, yet aesthetically pleasing public space amidst the cultural centre. The cultural centre consists of a museum, library, gallery and Perth Institute of Contemporary art. This meant the light fittings chosen service both function and aesthetic requirements. The iGuzzini Frame Woody were the perfect solution in achieving this. With their modern design and adjustable assembly the Woody gives the option to highlight the trees, street furniture and artwork. The Frame Woody incorporate iGuzzini’s Opti Smart reflector system which produces an asymmetrical Street Light distribution. The lighting system achieves lighting standards for both the pedestrian circulation spaces and over the crosswalks.

This project successfully compliments the creative surroundings and provides safe passage for the community.
